But what many people didn’t know was they could call their library and get the same service for free.  The library help desk takes phone calls and answers questions.  There a library with expertise in searching public documents would sit and answer people’s questions.  The question could be about searching for a person’s phone number or who won the world series in 1945.  But it was free to the public.  All part of the taxpayer library system.

But don’t go to any library, make sure to go to the main library branch.  Which is usually the biggest one with the most resources.  Many small branches will not have a designated help desk and archive, which the main library usually has.  If the help desk doesn’t have the information usually they can point you in the right direction.
